Printing Process for Custom Silk Scarves
Printing is where your scarf design becomes a real product. The method you choose affects pattern detail, color performance, production efficiency, and unit cost. We work with you to confirm the best printing approach based on your artwork complexity, order volume, and target price point.
Digital Printing
Reproduces fine details, rich color gradients, and complex artwork with high accuracy. Ideal for custom printed silk scarves with intricate patterns, small-batch orders, and projects with frequent design changes. Digital printing also supports silk scarf print on demand workflows, allowing flexible production without minimum print plate requirements. Print results are evaluated together with fabric type and pre-treatment conditions to ensure on-product performance matches the original artwork.
Double-Sided Digital Printing
We offer custom Double-Sided Printed Silk Scarf. Using our advanced, premium printing technology, we ensure 100% print penetration, resulting in vibrant, rich colors, and absolutely no white backing. This allows you to create two stunning looks with a single scarf. Explore the ultimate in luxury with our Double-Sided Printed Silk Scarf.
Screen Printing
Delivers strong color saturation, solid coverage, and reliable consistency across large production runs. Best suited for designs with clear color blocks and simpler compositions. A cost-effective choice for repeat orders, long-term production projects, and high-volume custom silk scarf wholesale.
Before bulk production, we provide printed samples on your confirmed fabric for color and pattern approval. Pantone color matching is supported for both methods to minimize color deviation between batches.

Custom Scarf Sizes for Any Wearing Style
Scarf dimensions determine how your product is worn, styled, and positioned in the market. A 55cm bandana and a 200cm wrap serve completely different end users, and the size you choose also affects fabric consumption, printing layout, and packaging design. Getting this right early avoids unnecessary adjustments later in production.
We produce all standard scarf sizes and support fully custom dimensions. If your product plan involves a non-standard size, we evaluate feasibility during sampling and confirm the final specification before production begins.
Standard Size Reference
- Square Scarf: 50×50cm, 70×70cm, 90×90cm, 110×110cm
- Long Scarf: 170×55cm, 180×65cm, 200×70cm
- Twilly: 5×90cm, 7×120cm
- Bandana & Headscarf: 55×55cm, 60×60cm, larger custom sizes available
- Shawl & Wrap: 130×130cm, 200×70cm and above
Not sure which size fits your market? Tell us how the scarf will be used and we will suggest the dimensions that work best for your target customer.

Edge Finishing Options for Silk Scarf
On a silk scarf, the edge is one of the first things a buyer notices and touches. It signals the product's quality level more immediately than almost any other detail. The finishing method you choose should align with your brand positioning, target retail price, and how the scarf will be displayed and handled.
We prepare your selected edge finish on actual production fabric during the sampling stage, so you can judge the look and feel in person before bulk production.
Available Edge Treatments
- Hand-Rolled Hem: Each edge rolled and stitched by hand. The hallmark of luxury silk scarves. Delivers a soft, rounded edge with a refined visual finish. Higher labor input is reflected in unit cost.
- Machine-Hemmed Edge: Consistent, clean stitching for mid-range retail and wholesale volumes. Reliable batch-to-batch uniformity with efficient production speed.
- Fringed Edge: Natural fringe that adds texture and movement. Works well on shawls, wraps, and long scarves where a relaxed, artisanal aesthetic is intended.
- Laser-Cut Edge: Heat-sealed to prevent fraying with no visible thread. Produces a clean, minimal profile suited to contemporary design styles and lightweight silk formats.

Logo and Branding for Custom Silk Scarves
Your logo and brand identity on a silk scarf need to be executed with precision — the scarf is a visible, high-touch product where branding quality is judged at close range.
- Printed Logo: Integrated into the scarf design during printing. Seamless with the fabric surface, no added texture. Works best when the logo is part of the overall pattern.
- Embroidered Logo: Stitched onto the scarf surface with a tactile, raised finish. Adds premium perception on solid-color scarves.
- Woven Label: Sewn into the hem or edge. Industry-standard product identification for retail and wholesale.
- Custom Care Label: Fiber content, washing instructions, and origin tailored to your destination market.
- Custom Hang Tag: Branded tag for retail shelf presentation and packaging.

Silk Fabric Options for Your Custom Scarves
The fabric you choose shapes how your scarf drapes around the neck, how it catches light, and how it feels against skin. For scarves specifically, these qualities matter more than in most other silk products because the fabric is constantly visible and in direct contact with the wearer.
Our standard material is 6A Grade 100% mulberry silk with OEKO-TEX® certification. Within this grade, different momme weights create distinctly different scarf characteristics. Lighter fabrics produce a fluid, airy drape ideal for silk twillies and summer square scarves. Mid-weight options deliver the structured yet soft hand feel that most brand retail scarves require. Heavier weights add visible richness and body, making them the go-to choice for shawls, wraps, and luxury gift scarves.
We also provide satin-weave and silk-blend fabrics for projects that need a silk-like look and feel at a more accessible price point. These are commonly used in promotional scarves, fast fashion lines, and high-volume wholesale orders.
If you are still deciding on fabric direction, share your product concept with us. We will narrow down the options and send physical swatches so you can compare drape, sheen, and texture before committing.
Momme Reference for Silk Scarves
- 12mm–16mm: Light and fluid, best for twillies, summer scarves, and large-volume promotional items
- 19mm: The most versatile weight for brand retail scarves, balancing softness and structure
- 22mm–25mm: Rich drape with visible luster, preferred for shawls, gift scarves, and premium collections
- Satin & Blended: Glossy surface at a lower cost, practical for fast fashion and high-volume orders

FAQ
How Custom Silk Scarves Are Made: From Design to Delivery
Understanding the production process behind a custom silk scarf helps you make better decisions on material, timeline, and budget. Below is a step-by-step overview of how DreamSilk turns your scarf concept into a finished, delivery-ready product.
Step 1: Project Discussion and Design Confirmation
Every custom silk scarf project starts with a clear conversation about your requirements. You may provide completed design files, reference images, or simply describe your product concept. Our design team reviews the information and works with you to confirm scarf dimensions, fabric type, pattern layout, edge finishing method, and any branding elements such as logos or labels. If you need design support, we can assist with pattern development using our pattern library or create original artwork based on your brand direction.
Step 2: Fabric Selection and Pre-treatment
Once the design is confirmed, we select the appropriate silk fabric based on your project specifications. DreamSilk primarily uses 6A Grade 100% mulberry silk certified to OEKO-TEX® Standard 100. The chosen fabric goes through pre-treatment before entering the printing or sewing stage. Pre-treatment stabilizes the silk surface, reduces shrinkage during subsequent processing, and improves ink adhesion for printing. This step is essential for achieving consistent color performance and dimensional stability in the finished scarf.
Step 3: Printing
The printing stage transfers your confirmed design onto the prepared silk fabric. Digital printing is used for patterns with fine details, gradient effects, or a large number of colors, and is also the standard method for small-batch and print-on-demand projects. Screen printing is applied for designs with clean color blocks where strong color saturation and cost efficiency at volume are needed. Before bulk printing begins, we produce a print sample on the actual production fabric for your color and pattern approval.
Step 4: Cutting
Silk is a naturally soft and slippery material, which makes precise cutting more demanding than with most other fabrics. During cutting, we control pattern alignment, fabric grain direction, and dimensional accuracy to ensure each piece meets the confirmed size specification. For scarves with symmetrical or continuous patterns, the cutting layout is planned in advance to keep the design consistent across every edge of the finished product.
Step 5: Edge Finishing and Sewing
After cutting, each scarf piece moves into edge finishing. The method applied depends on what was confirmed during sampling: hand-rolled hems for luxury positioning, machine-hemmed edges for mid-range production, fringed edges for shawls and casual styles, or laser-cut edges for clean contemporary looks. If the project includes embroidered logos, embroidery is completed at this stage with controlled stitch density and thread tension to avoid surface distortion on the silk.
Step 6: Quality Inspection
Each finished scarf is inspected before entering the packaging stage. The inspection covers color accuracy against the approved sample, dimensional consistency, edge finishing quality, print clarity, and overall surface condition. Scarves that do not meet the confirmed standard are held back from the delivery batch. This process ensures that what you receive matches what you approved during sampling.
Step 7: Packaging and Delivery
After passing inspection, scarves are folded, wrapped, and packed according to your confirmed packaging specification. Custom packaging elements including branded boxes, silk pouches, hang tags, and care labels are assembled at this stage. The finished goods are then handed over to the logistics provider for shipment, with tracking information shared upon dispatch.
Caring for Your Silk Scarf
Silk scarves require gentle handling to maintain their luster and softness over time. Proper washing, drying, and storage methods can significantly extend the lifespan of a silk scarf. If you are developing a product line or providing care guidance to your end customers, our article on how to care for silk scarves covers the key points in detail.
