"Silk charmeuse" and "silk satin" refer to the same fabric — 100% silk woven with a satin weave. Western markets use "charmeuse," Chinese factories say "silk satin" or "crepe satin." If you've sourced silk satin before, our charmeuse is identical. Always confirm composition is 100% mulberry silk — "satin" alone often means polyester.

Charmeuse: satin weave, glossy front, matte back, smooth and slippery. Crepe de chine: crepe weave with twisted yarns, pebbled surface, matte both sides, more textured. Charmeuse is shinier with more drape; CDC has more body and sews easier.

What Is Silk Charmeuse?
Silk charmeuse is woven from 100% mulberry silk using a satin weave. Warp threads float over three or more weft threads, creating a glossy front and soft matte back. In trade, silk charmeuse, silk satin, and crepe satin all describe this same construction.
How Momme Weight Affects Your Product
- 12–14mm: Lightweight, semi-transparent. Scarves, shawls, linings.

Care and Handling
- Hand wash in cold water (below 30°C) with silk detergent. Do not wring.
- Machine wash on silk cycle in a mesh bag if needed.
- Iron on low heat on the matte back, or use a steamer.
- Shrinkage: 3–5% after first wash. Pre-shrinking service available.
